Product Placement: Not-so-secret Advertising

Think of your favorite television show and try to name three branded items that you remember seeing in the last episode you watched. If anything comes to mind, you’ve been subject to product placement.

Recognize these television shows and movies?

Product placement is when companies pay to have their goods or services inserted into the context of movies and/or television shows. Although product placement isn’t cheap by any means, it is becoming increasingly more popular as a result of commercial free streaming websites and (depending on your television provider and package) being able to fast-forward through commercials.

Next time you watch a movie or television show, I challenge you to count the number of times a branded item or service is displayed. I guarantee you will be shocked by the number you come up with. Tweet what you find @theprimagroup.
