Six Phases Of The Six Week Countdown To Summer

We’ve returned from Spring break, and we have six weeks left here at St. John Fisher College. So, what lies ahead for us?

Speaking of sweet baby Jesus, Easter break cannot come soon enough. The weeks feel longer, and we’re still trying to recover from Spring Break and St. Patrick’s Day weekend. At this rate, how are we supposed to be expected to salvage our grades before the end of the semester?

The weather is starting to get nicer, Easter break is coming up and summer needs to be here already. We’ve got this whole college thing down, we think. We are eating healthy, dressing lighter, and getting our beach bods ready. Simply because “look good, feel good, do good,” right?

4-Weeks-‘Til-Summer: Easter Break, Easter Break, Easter Break.

No class. Home. Food (that’s not Lackmann). Candy. Family. Need we say more?

3-Weeks-‘Til-Summer: Wait, Summer is actually coming.

Returning back from Easter, everyone expects us to have a plan on how we will spend the summer. Will we work, travel, visit family, or volunteer? Well, we better figure it out quick. But we have to get our lives together enough to finish the semester in 3 weeks? HA! Okay.

2-Weeks-‘Til-Summer: Can’t talk, I’m studying.

At this point, we are all a little ready to go home, and it doesn’t help that we are all beginning to feel the pressure of those deadlines for semester long projects, presentations, portfolios, and essays that we procrastinated doing. We kick our butts into high gear and do like Larry the Cable guy and “Get ‘er done!” ….because we have to. We’ve got this.

1-Week-‘Til-Summer: Death by Finals

We are seriously considering sleeping in the library in order to pass all of our finals, and even then, it will probably require a miracle. We pass in the library and dining hall, casually discussing the week of angst we are experiencing. We also discuss our weekend plans to spend quality time with our friends and kick-back, relax, and party altogether for the last time of the year.

Summer: WHAT AM I GOING TO DO FOR FOUR MONTHS?

As much as I have been waiting for finals and assignments to be over, I have no idea how I am going to survive the next 4 months without all of my best friends. When can we come back? Help.

As much as we are all ready for summer to come, remember: it is only 6 weeks away! So enjoy the next 6 weeks. Remember to spend time with the friends you have, only a hallway or short walk across campus away. Also, remember to start working on those projects sooner than later and save yourself the stress of procrastination later! Here’s to 6 more weeks well spent with the Fisher Family, a great semester, and an even greater summer!
