St. Patrick’s Day parade in Dublin, Ireland
Hopefully, we all recovered from the St. Paddy’s day festivities over the weekend and all those who aren’t Irish continue to wear their green for one more day. There are many things St. Patrick’s Day brings to us. It’s not only a day that gives us an excuse to drink all the beer possible, but it’s a day to celebrate the Irish and their culture. Here’s a few interesting things that may make you be proud of your Irish heritage, or make you wish you were or just show you how to deal with one.
1. Irish Men are known to be inventors.
Guys there is hope for you after college or even during. It’s in your blood to be an inventor. Men like Henry Ford, a son of an Irish immigrant gave us the automobile John Jolly invented color photography, John Phillip Holland invented the submarine. Now, let’s get to the things that really entertain us, flavored potato chips. They were help created by Joseph “Spud” Murphy by an innovation he made to season them to mouthwatering flavors like, salt & vinegar, barbecue, cheese and onion, during the manufacturing process. Later on it was sold to an American Enterprise. If you truly want to make an Irish person happy it’s known they all love potatoes. I know I do.
2. F***, S***……Swearing

We Irish have an excuse to swear a lot, we’re known for it. For some who live in Ireland it’s known to be their second language. Therefore, I wouldn’t mess with us because we know our way with words and most of the time it’s the truth.
3. One Major Part of Festivities

We Irish know how to party and drink… a lot; it’s in our heritage. So, today celebrate with pride because you have a reason to drink up or “sláinte” (cheers). In Ireland, there are parades, music, and dancing. Guinness, a well-known beer created by the Irish continues to be downed every year by the numerous Irish folks in the pubs, in Ireland and the United States. Approximately 13M pints of Guinness are consumed worldwide on this special day.
My advice for all those under 21 like myself, enjoy the people watching. There’s no better day like today to do it. If you want to be in the driver’s seat of watching, literally drive your friends because this is known as the fourth biggest party day of the year and on average every 46 minute interval an alcohol- related crash claims a life on this day. So don’t let that be your friends. Be safe while having a lot of fun, swearing if necessary, and always feeling like today will be the day you invent the next big thing, better than the potato chip.
HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY EVERYONE!
Or for some……
