Cardinal Cuffing Season

As each of us girls search through our closets for our pullovers wishing we had a boy’s instead (because they are obvi more comfy) and the boys start realizing how lonely the cold winter is going to be without a cuddle buddy, cuffing season is in the air! In colleges, the chaotic fun of the new school year is settling down and we are finally settled into our dorms and apartments. We know who our school buddies, dining buddies, and weekend buddies are, and we are looking for that someone to be a little more than a buddy. Soon, we will be homebound for the holiday, and we know that we cannot show up to Thanksgiving without a name to drop when eager Aunt Nancy bombards us with questions about college and asks if we’ve got a special someone.

And girls are not the only ones who might want to get cuffed this holiday season. Boys have a reputation of wanting a girl they can cuddle with at night while watching a movie by the fireplace.

However, there are those few individuals who don’t follow the crowd of wanting to be cuffed. They are perfectly content doing their own thing and not having to answer to anyone. After all, that’s the one downside of being cuffed. Suddenly your free time is gone.

1. Bae-sic and ready for cuffing

These lovely ladies (Right to left: Danielle Cipolla, Olivia Rotondo) are looking for a special cutie to cuddle with and to be able to call them theirs. So come on boys! Let’s see if you’re worthy.

These are the girls who are single and ready to be cuffed this season. This is the girl who is so cuffable, it hurts. All she wants this fall is some pumpkin spice coffee (or anything pumpkin spice really) and a nice boy to brag about come Christmastime. She is not to be confused with the sloots or the desperate chicks. She has her s#!% together, but she wants that boy who will give her a little extra tender love and care this winter.

These girls should consider where they are looking for these boys.

Be smart and remember that though Brickwood and house parties are all good fun, that boy who is trying to make out with you at the party is not necessarily the boy you want to be with for more than one night—leave that decision for when you are in a better state of mind. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t find the love of your life in one of these party boys. The cliché truth is that the boy you’ve been searching for will come along when you least expect it. But what’s the trick to getting that cute boy that you’ve been eyeing at in class? The best advice I can give is no advice. Be yourself, be confident, and never be afraid to let him know you might be interested. When you see him out of class, ask him about the homework and make small talk and kind jokes about the professor, and if he is interested, he will make the next move.

2. Girls who don't have time for cuffing

The beauties who don’t follow the trend of cuffing season (Top: Alyssa Carpulla, Right to left: Alex Dudevski, Hannah Martella) are throwing and stomping away the cuffs. So if you want one of these girls, good luck!

These girls are going around doing their own things, talking, and maybe doing a little flirting with everyone. But still not interested in being tied down. Frankly she simply doesn’t have time to think about being cuffed between school, work, clubs and finding time to spend with her friends. It’s a little difficult to tell who they would like to be cuffed to since they are so outgoing and flirty. But the secret is, she doesn’t want to be cuffed, at all. She does her own thing and has fun with her girls. But remember, this is completely normal for girls. Girls tend to get scared and protective. Sometimes they also have difficulty making up their minds. So if you are someone who is in this situation where maybe there’s that girl you’ve known and you want to make them yours but can’t tell if she’s interested? Try not to be discouraged, just enjoy talking to that special person. After all, late night texts are the next best thing to an empty side bed.

3. On the hunt and ready to cuff

These handsome bachelors (Right to left, Vince Maurino, Bobby Fallone, Chad Streb) are single and looking to more than mingle, they want to settle down with a lucky lady for the winter.

These boys are, for the most part, your upperclassman who have played around for a year or two and are looking to be with someone a little more consistent. He is looking for someone he knows or wants to get to know, who will be cool with staying in and watching ABC Family’s 31 days of Halloween (mostly for the Harry Potter marathons), but also cool with going out or being around his boys. He wants to settle down with that girl who goes to class during the week and keeps it classy on the weekends while she’s out having fun. And we cannot forget, he wants a girl who understands that Sundays from now until February are dedicated to one thing and one thing only: Football. He is either on the JV team playing in games on Sundays, watching the Bills games with his boys, or wants you by his side pretending to understand what’s going on.

But the real question is, how do you get that pretty girl that you can’t stop thinking about? Well, most girls are pretty down to earth and like the simple things. Give a girl food and coffee and she will be happy (it definitely works on me). Give this lucky lady the attention she deserves, and make sure you keep it consistent boys. Don’t be that tease to text her for awhile, then stop, and then text her again. Girls like it when you are dependable and show that you sincerely care. Besides, if you don’t take these little steps, how else will she know she’s any special?

4. Boys who do not want anything to do with cuffing season

3.png

These crazy boys are running away from all the cuffing. It’s the last thing they want to be doing, they would go so far as to chewing away from it (Left: Freddie Bryant, Top to bottom: Cole Schmitt, Zach Cardella).

Most boys don’t want to be cuffed at all. They are having way too much enjoyment in going to the bars with the boys, texting a new girl every day, and not having a girlfriend controlling what they do. These type of boys are very difficult to figure out since they can be very charismatic with all the girls. It’s important to watch out for these guys because you never know who else they are texting. So ladies, if you are one who wants to be coupled this cuffing season, don’t go for the charming boy who is flirting with every girl on campus. You never know who else he might be trying to cuddle up with this winter.

5. Cuffable Deniability

These precious pairs (Top: Ryan McGillicuddy and Olivia Lopez, Bottom: Erica Sticker and Tyler Witter) are a couple of faces of Fisher who were nice enough to let us capture the cuteness that is their cuffed happiness.

This is the couple that is cuffed whether they like it or not. They have been talking a little bit since some point in September, and as the temperature has crept down, the amount they talk and hang out has crept up. They like each other enough to be willing to settle in for winter hibernation together. Will they make it to next cuffing season together, or is this a love that can barely outlast the holiday season? We’re hoping for the former! Happy cuffing, love birds (get it, cause we’re Cardinals?)!
